Make a Plan For Your Estate Before It’s Too Late

Updated: Feb 18, 2021

The last thing you want to worry about after the passing of a loved one or relative is whether or not they had their estate planning complete and affairs in order. Depending on the situation, it’s possible that friends and family may not be as prepared as they should in the event of an unexpected or unforeseen event. At Hildebrand Law Firm, we can’t stress enough how important it is to take the time to plan for your future and the future of your loved ones. One of our clients received a wake-up call that it was time to get her estate plan in place after the unfortunate passing of her younger brother.

As a single woman in her 50’s, she had previously put off the estate planning process. After her younger brother passed, she decided it was time to stop procrastinating. Since her brother didn’t quite have his affairs in order at the time of his death, the state took over and all of his assets had been distributed through the probate process by the court system. This meant that family members who he didn't have a particularly strong or close relationship with were inheriting assets, when maybe they wouldn’t have if her brother had an estate plan in place. After seeing this taking place, our client decided she didn’t want this same situation to happen to her or her assets in the event of her passing, so she worked with us to design the right estate plan that matched her particular needs. It’s comforting to her to know that she now has a plan in place for her assets to benefit the right people after her death.

At Hildebrand Law Firm, LLC, we have more than 18 years of experience handling both simple and complex legal matters in the areas of family law, estate planning, probate and estate administration, probate litigation, business law, employment and labor law issues, car repossessions, and real estate matters. We know how important it is for individuals to make a plan for their estate and assets once they’ve passed on. Having the peace of mind knowing that the people you love and have chosen will receive their due can allow you to rest easy after your estate plan is in place.
